Obituary for Jack Hull

Died suddenly with his wife and daughter by his side on Thursday, July 12, 2018 at C.E.E. Hospital of Bluewater Health, Petrolia. John “Jack” Hull, of Oil Springs, was in his 94th year. He will be missed by his wife of 69 years Myrtle (nee Mitchell). He was a loving father to Kathy (Paul) Trounce and the late Rick (Judy) Hull (2008) and grandfather to Ben (Denise) Zavitz, Jeremey Hull, and Chad (Janice) Hull and great grandfather Jessie Hull and Marissa and Evan Zavitz. Jack was predeceased by his brothers Jim and Bill Hull and his sisters Marjorie Morningstar, Mildred Mitchell, and Christina Evans. Jack served his country in World War II, and was active in the Oil Springs Community, starting the first Cub Scout troop in Oil Springs, as well he was a charter member of the Oil Springs Optimist Club, a member of Ridgley Lodge No. 250, Alexandra-Inwood No. 158 A.F. & A.M., Royal Canadian Legion Br. 535 and was an elder and clerk of session of Oil Springs United Church. He also spent many years with Oil Springs Fire Department and served on Village Council and the local School Board. He was also a 60-year member of Local 663 Plumbers and Steamfitters. Visitors will be received on Sunday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. at the Needham-Jay Funeral Home, 4059 Petrolia Line, Petrolia. The Royal Canadian Legion will conduct a memorial service at 4:00 p.m. and the Oddfellows and Rebekah Lodge will be at 6:45 pm. A funeral service will be held on Monday, July 16, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the Oil Springs United Church, 4655 Oil Springs Line, Oil Springs. Interment to follow in Oil Springs Cemetery.
